At PICA, we adopt and comply with the Commonwealth Privacy Act 1988 and the ten National Privacy Principles contained therein, which set out a number of principles concerning the protection of your personal information.

Following is the information that the Privacy Act requires us to communicate to all of our customers. We recommend that you review and keep this information for future reference. BCSblue

BCSblue, is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Prudential Investment Company of Australia and is responsible for the BCSblue property services directory and related print, voice and online products, as well as a range of advertising, content, location and business services.

Your personal information

Personal information held by BCSblue may include your name, date of birth, current and previous addresses, telephone/mobile phone number, email address, bank account or credit card details, occupation and driver's licence number and your BCSblue Access IN or Password. We also hold details of your BCSblue services, including their status.

If you choose not to provide personal information, we may not be able to provide you with the services, or a high level of service, that you require.

How we collect personal information

BCSblue collects personal information in a number of ways, including:

Directly from you, when you provide information by phone or in documents such as an application form;
From third parties such as our related companies, carriage service providers, credit reporting agencies or your representatives;
From publicly available sources of information;
From the organisations identified below under "When we disclose your personal information";
From our own records of how you use our services; or
When legally required to do so.

How we use your personal information

Your personal information may be used in order to:

Provide the services you require, including directory services, through a number of media;
Administer and manage those services, including charging, billing and collecting debts;
Inform you of ways the services provided to you could be improved;
Conduct appropriate checks for credit- worthiness and for fraud;
Research and develop our services;
Gain an understanding of your information and communication needs in order for us to provide you with a better service; and

When we disclose your personal information

For the purposes set out above we may disclose your personal information to organisations outside BCSblue. The organisations to which we disclose information include:

Prudential Investment Company of Australia and other related companies
Outsourced service providers who manage the services we provide to you, including;

Customer Enquires and Database Maintenance;
Mailing Systems;
Billing and Debt Recovery Functions;
Information Technology Services;
Marketing, telemarketing and door knocking services;
Marketing Research;
Your representatives
Credit reporting and fraud checking agencies
Credit providers for credit related purposes such as credit worthiness, credit rating, credit provision and financing;
Our professional advisers, including our accountants, auditors and lawyers;
Government and regulatory authorities and other organisations, as required or authorised by law;
Organisations involved in;
A transfer/sale of all or part of our assets or business (including accounts and trade receivables); and
Managing our corporate risk and funding functions
Other telecommunications and information service providers.

In the above circumstances, we ensure that your personal information will only be used for the specific purpose for which it was provided or obtained.

BCSblue takes all reasonable precautions to ensure that the personal information we collect, use and disclose is accurate, complete and up to date. However, the accuracy of that information we hold depends to a large extent on the information you provide. That's why we recommend that you:

Let us know if there are any errors in your personal information; and
Keep us up to date with changes to personal information such as your name or address.

It is IMPORTANT for you to know that:

(a)you have the right to request access to any information which relates specifically to you, subject to some exceptions allowed by law;
(b)you have the right to request the correction of any information that relates to you which is inaccurate.

If you would like access to any of the information that relates specifically to you, you may be required to put your request in writing for security reasons. PICA also reserves the right to charge a fee for searching for, and providing access to your information.

Further, we are confident in the manner that we protect your privacy. Rest assured that your information is protected from misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification and disclosure. Any information that is no longer required for the purposes for which it was collected or for the purpose of conforming with current laws is destroyed. All files, letters, correspondence and any other document or electronic data that is no longer required is properly disposed of.
